Language of the program

The language of the Graduate School is English and knowledge of German is not required for enrollment as PhD student with the University.

It is however very helpful in an everyday life. The Graduate School provides an intensive German course for beginners during the first semester. Students who wish to continue the language course are offered one which helps them to acquire a solid knowledge necessary for an independent life in Germany (shopping, authorities, searching and finding a flat, travel, watching news on TV, reading and preparing official letters and many more).

The courses are basically closed for students other than IGSDHD members.
